A great winery is characterized by its exotic wine, location, people and of course the philosophy. Being close to Manassas National Battlefield Park, The Winery at Bull Run is ideally located to make us proud. Our renowned winery has been a unique facility due to the architecture & artifacts that reveal how carefully we have preserved our Civil War heritage.
We feel extremely proud to have renowned wine expert Chris Pearmund as our executive winemaker while vigneron George Wilson has enabled us to establish as well as efficiently manage our VA vineyards. We cultivate around three acres of Norton grapes on our Centreville property. Featuring a jammy, fruit-forward taste and deep blue-purple color, these grapes got their name from Dr. Daniel Norton of Richmond.
Our entry into the Virginia wine scene has been highlighted by the increased number of awards we started receiving in the prestigious wine competitions held across the country. Even in the Wines of the South Competition held this year, our Viognier won "Best of Show", that reflects the sheer popularity of our winery. Making great wine is actually our specialty at The Winery of Bull Run.
For wine making, earlier we purchased grapes from Warrenton, Charlottesville and other places in Virginia. But now, with our Norton grapes reaching maturity, we produced our first "Token Harvest" and produced as well as bottled wine cases in excess of 3000 in this auspicious year, which is a real achievement in our first year.
We even purchased a farm near Little Washington to facilitate absolute control over the quality of our fruit and offered wine. With this 115-acre vineyard, we are expecting new & solid possibilities of taking our winemaking to the highest level of perfection. Additionally, we also expect involvement & participation from our patrons & the community as we start cultivating this beautiful vineyard.
